Artlawyers provides collectors with assistance and counselling on all aspects of the purchase and sale of artworks, of relationships with intermediaries and institutions and also for loans and acquisitions.
The network provides organizations, galleries and auction houses with qualified assistance in drafting and negotiating sector-specific contracts, in fund raising and in legal disputes.
This article originates from a conceptual challenge and from a legal challenge. The conceptual challenge refers to how identifying the main characters’ role when dealing with contemporary artwork. The other challenge refers to the law and its relations with contemporary art.
Site specific representations may consist of performances, i.e. artistic pieces consisting of an action of an individual or a group, in a determined place and time . As far as contemporary law is concerned, such performances include the following elements: the involvement of artist’s body; the involvement of the audience; the uniqueness of place and time in which they are executed.
